Energy Audit and Energy Efficiency
O.J.S.C. Mechel and GCE - Energy "(which is part of the GCE Group) deliberate on the prospects for cooperation in the field of energy efficiency for the holding’s enterprises.
Mechel business spreads to four segments: mining, metallurgy, ferroalloy and energy, and it has plants in 12 Russian regions and abroad.
Recently in the corporate meeting of the heads of the energy services and the divisions of OJSC Mechel Beloretsk the Vasiliy Tarasovskiy, the Technical Director of GCE Energy, presented a report on the possibilities of energy savings through energy surveys (energy audits) and implementation of energy management. The necessity to establish uniform operation standards for the power installations, projects for their modernization and reconstruction, issues related to the optimization of the procurement of energy resources and many other matters were also discussed.
It may be noted that recently only the Korshunov Mining and Processing Plant (Mechel, Irkutsk region) has already signed an agreement with GCE Energy to conduct Energy Audit and develop Energy Saving Programs.
According to Vasiliy Tarasovskiy, the loss of energy in mining and metallurgy are maximal, which at times reach up to 20%. And also the energy component in the product cost increases year by year, both because of the aging equipment and the growing tariffs.
"Naturally, the enterprises are seeking ways to reduce the energy consumption”, - concluded Mr. Tarasovskiy. – “I think that “Mechel” has great potential in this regard. In recent years a lot has already been done towards energy saving; Mechel has resources, and more importantly, the goodwill, to implement new plans".
